Do you remember Crystal Pepsi? It was introduced by PepsiCo in 1992 as a clear, caffeine-free soft drink, aiming to capitalize on the early 90s trend of “clear” products. The 80s saw a constant back and forth between Coca-Cola and Pepsi so PepsiCo wanted to try and set itself apart in the “cola wars.” The idea was to offer a Pepsi that looked cleaner but still had the same taste. Despite heavy initial marketing, including licensing the Van Halen song “Right Now” and a memorable Super Bowl commer
