A popular South Kingstown restaurant was ravaged by a fire on Tuesday morning, officials from the Union Fire District of South Kingstown said. Around 3:44 a.m., firefighters were called to Matunuck Oyster Bar at 629 Succotash Road for a report of a massive fire.

Firefighters responded to the two-alarm blaze at Matunuck Oyster Bar on Succotash Road just before 4 a.m., Union Fire District of South Kingstown Chief Steve Pinch told reporters at the scene.

Matunuck Oyster Bar opened in 2009 as an extension of a local oyster farming business. WAKEFIELD – A fire at Matunuck Oyster Bar in South Kingstown early in the morning on May 20 caused serious damage to the iconic restaurant and firefighters say the restaurant will likely be a total loss.
