National Grid and Eversource have proposed reducing delivery rates for natural gas bills by 10% in March and April for residential customers.

The state’s two biggest utilities said Monday they will reduce gas bills for the next two months, but recoup the costs later this year.

Eversource says it wants to decrease gas bills by 10% for Massachusetts customers in March and April. On Monday, Eversource filed the counterproposal in response to the state's Department of Public Utilities request that energy companies cut gas rates by 5%.
