Tropical storm Erin strengthened Saturday morning into a Category 5 storm in the Caribbean, according to the National Hurricane Center. The storm as of 11 a.m. was 105 miles north of Anguilla and moving west at 17 mph. Erin is not expected to make landfall but will dump heavy rains across the region, according to the Associated Press.
Hurricane Erin is currently not forecast to hit land, but strong winds are affecting nearby islands, prompting forecasters to warn of possible flooding and landslides.
