Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines is suspending its flights to Israel through August in response to conflict in the region. The move comes after Israel launched strikes across Iran, targeting Iran’s nuclear program and military sites, The Associated Press reported.
As conflict continues to escalate between the two nations, Delta Air Lines has made the decision to stop all flights from New York-JFK to Tel Aviv until at least August 31. "Delta has paused flights to Tel Aviv (TLV) from New York-JFK through August 31 in response to the current conflict in the region," Delta wrote in a statement on Friday.
Israel's attack on Iran scrambled air travel, with United and Delta flights to Tel Aviv turning around midway and other airlines canceling flights.
Israel's airspace remains closed following a military strike in Iran, leaving tens of thousands of Israelis stranded worldwide. El Al and foreign carriers suspend flights, while authorities organize rescue efforts.
