Scialfa reveals her illness in the upcoming documentary “Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band,” which debuts Friday, Oct. 25, on Hulu and Disney+.

Springsteen and Scialfa now have three grown children. The birth of their first, Evan in 1990, strengthened their relationship and created a family bond. They took baby steps to making a baby.

Scialfa met Springsteen in the early 1980s at the Stone Pony, Asbury Park’s famous music club. Living in New York at the time, Scialfa was working as a waitress.
