Morgan Geyser, who stabbed Payton Leutner in 2014 in an effort to please the fictional character Slender Man, is set to be released from a Wisconsin psychiatric hospital, a judge ruled Jan. 9.

Morgan Geyser, one of the two assailants in the 2014 Slender Man stabbing case, appeared in court Thursday to petition for release from a mental health facility.

Judge Michael Bohren's decision marks a dramatic change from his decision in April 2024, when he remained unconvinced that Geyser was not a threat.
