Red Lobster is determined to fish itself out of the financial deep end, and its new CEO is banking on the resurrection of a fan-favorite menu item to help it accomplish that. The popular restaurant chain is jump-starting its recovery after it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May.

Red Lobster debuted some new food options and brought back two popular items this week after the seafood restaurant chain overhauled its menu.

(CNN) – Hush puppies, once a staple on Red Lobster’s menu, are making a return. The return of the hush puppies is part of the broader changes at the chain, which emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection under new ownership in September.

Red Lobster emerged from bankruptcy in September under new ownership, led by one of its lenders, Fortress Investment Group, which has initially committed $60 million to revitalize the chain. It also hired Adamolekun, who recently successfully ran P.F. Chang’s, to lead the charge.

CEO Damola Adamolekun confirmed that the $20 endless shrimp deal will not be included in a revamped menu. But there are nine new items.
