Dozens of migrating birds were found dead or dying at an Amarillo playa lake over the weekend. Avian influenza is suspected.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced Thursday that it had five preliminary positive cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza, or bird flu, in Suffolk County.

Another Georgia commercial poultry flock has tested positive for bird flu, the third such case in less than a month in the state, agriculture officials said.
