According to polling released by the left-leaning research firm Data for Progress last week, 59 percent of Democrats report that Elon Musk has made them much less likely to buy a Tesla. That’s compared to only 15 percent of Republicans.

Overall EV sales in Europe surged 34% in January, while Tesla saw its sales across the continent plummet by a staggering 45%.

Sales are plunging in some of the world’s biggest EV markets, and protesters and vandals are targeting the company’s stores.
