Two teens are expected to survive after being shot on Kimbark Avenue in Kalamazoo early Saturday morning. The location is just west of the Western Michigan University campus. Police say a 17 and 18-year-old suffered gunshot wounds just before 1 a.

Western Michigan University President Edward Montgomery plans to retire next year, ending an eight-year run in Kalamazoo and a 40-year career in higher education. Montgomery announced his retirement today in a letter emailed to the “campus community.” He wrote that he turns 70 years old next year.
