MORGANTOWN — West Virginia had more trouble overcoming itself than it did overcoming Pitt in the last schedule renewal of the women’s basketball Backyard Brawl, turning up the heat defensively until the offense could come around in the fourth quarter of an 82-54 victory to give them a 3-0 start on the season.

The Panthers (2-1) lose their seventh straight to the Mountaineers (3-0) since 2011, when they both played in the Big East. It also makes it 59 straight losses to a ranked opponent since 2015. This is the fourth game they've played since departing the Big East,

It is getting increasingly difficult to play disciplined offense against the West Virginia Mountaineers at the WVU Coliseum. No. 15 WVU (3-0) remained unbeaten with a 82-54 win over Pitt (2-1) in the 49th meeting between the two programs.
