ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have acquired forward Lars Eller from the Pittsburgh Penguins for Washington’s third-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft and a fifth-round pick (originally from Chicago) in the 2025 NHL Draft, senior vice president and general manager Chris Patrick announced today.

The Pittsburgh Penguins traded forward Lars Eller to the Washington Capitals for a 2025 fifth-round pick and a 2027 third-round pick.“We are excited to welcome Lars back to our organization,” Capitals general manager Chris Patrick said.

Washington sent a 2025 fifth-round pick and a 2027 third-round pick to the Penguins on Tuesday for Lars Eller, who spent seven seasons with the Capitals and helped the team win its first Stanley Cup in 2018.

This just in, the Pittsburgh Penguins have traded veteran forward Lars Eller to the Washington Capitals in exchange for a 3rd round pick and a 4th round pick. Eller, of course, spent seven season with the Capitals from 2016 until 2022,

The Pittsburgh Penguins made a trade a day after a blowout loss to Dallas and have furthered the process of their rebuild. Veteran center Lars Eller was sent to Washington, in return the Pens will get a third round pick all the way in 2027 and a fifth round pick in the upcoming draft in 2025.
