Every offseason, the NFL awards compensatory draft picks to teams who essentially lost more than they gained in free agency in the previous year. Comp picks are awarded beginning at the end of the third round.

The Indianapolis Colts are not projected to get any 2025 compensatory draft picks, according to Over the Cap. So, what is a compensatory draft pick and what does it have to do with the NFL draft?

Nick Korte of Over The Cap makes a yearly projection for compensatory picks. This April, he has the Ravens getting four compensatory picks: a fourth, two fifths, and a sixth. The Ravens will receive picks for Patrick Queen (Steelers), Jadeveon Clowney (Panthers), Geno Stone (Bengals), and Kevin Zeitler (Lions).

The Broncos have not been awarded a comp pick since 2018, when they received one extra pick. Before that, Denver received four comp picks each year from 2015-2017. Overall, they have received 22 comp picks since 1999. The Broncos hold seven picks to use in the 2025 NFL draft (April 24-26).
