FORT WORTH, Texas — Utah picked up its first road win of the season on Wednesday night, and it came at a good time for the Runnin’ Utes. Utah went into Schollmaier Arena and beat TCU 73-65 for the Utes’ second straight loss, helping continue to right the ship a bit before a big rivalry matchup this weekend.

And while TCU’s star guards Vasean Allette (19 points, nine rebounds, four assists) and Noah Reynolds (12 points, three assists) ended up with good numbers, Utah didn’t allow them to burn the Utes outside of a few short stretches.

After enigmatic coach Rick Majerus was hired by Utah in April of 1989, the Utes climbed back into the national picture, while BYU stayed fairly relevant under Roger Reid and then bottomed out in the 1996-97 season, going 1-25 with Reid being fired after seven games.
