Mike Vrabel has hired Josh McDaniels and Terrell Williams to be his top coordinators, while the Patriots have retained Jeremy Springer to lead special teams.

Detroit Lions defensive line coach Terrell Williams is departing the organization and will accept the defensive coordinator position with the New England Patriots. Williams had previously worked with Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel during their stint with the Tennessee Titans.

Williams will join offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and special teams coordinator Jeremy Springer on head coach Mike Vrabel’s staff. He worked with Vrabel for six years (2018-2023) with the Tennessee Titans, and was most recently a defensive line coach and run game coordinator for the Detroit Lions this past year.

The 50-year-old Williams coached defensive line for Mike Vrabel for six seasons in Tennessee, also serving as the team’s assistant head coach for Vrabel’s final season.

Speaking to reporters Thursday, Rams head coach Sean McAvoy bemoaned the fact that the Patriots hired John Streicher this offseason.

The New England Patriots are reportedly hiring Cleveland Browns offensive assistant Ashton Grant as their new quarterbacks coach, according to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones. Grant is a Connecticut native who attended Assumption University in Worcester. So this is a homecoming for the man set to replace T.C. McCartney.
