Two days before U.S. President Donald Trump's deadline to finalize trade negotiations, Canada hasn't closed a deal with the United States, Prime Minister Mark Carney said.

O TTAWA—Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said bilateral talks with Washington to resolve the tariff row might not lead to a deal before the Aug. 1 deadline. Senior officials are in Washington to find an agreement that is suitable for Canada, Carney said.

Recent pacts with Britain, Europe and Japan mean that autos exported from those countries and regions face lower U.S. tariffs than Canadian vehicles do.
