It’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The 28th annual event is happening nationwide from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Drug Enforcement Administration began the initiative in 2010 to provide easy, anonymous opportunities to properly dispose of medications that are highly susceptible to misuse and theft.

Today is an opportunity to go through your medicine cabinets and safely dispose of expired or unused prescription medications.

The CDC says overdose is the leading cause of death for young Americans, highlighting the need for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
