Kicking off the second week of an antitrust trial, Neal Mohan testified that Google did what was best for consumers and the ad industry.

The word of the day in US v. Google was “parking.” As in: did Google buy some of its most ascendant and dangerous competitors in the online advertising business, all the while planning on parking them off in some far-flung corner of the company so that no one could possibly upset Google’s dominance?

Another lawsuit against Google for possible antitrust practices is currently underway. The DOJ accuses it of, among other things, buying up potential competitors to get rid of threats in the market. They also say that Google is involved in all the main parts of the adtech stack.

Filed in 2023, the lawsuit claims Google unfairly eliminated competition through acquisitions, consolidating its dominance in the ad tech space.
