According to Lancaster County officials, the aircraft went down just before 8 a.m. near 500 Airport Road. The plane's sole occupant was a male, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.

A Piper PA-46 crashed into a field north of the airport shortly after taking off around 8 a.m., according to the FAA.
