Nearly a decade ago, neighboring counties, Guadalupe and Comal, installed flood sirens. Nearby New Braunfels regularly tests its outdoor warning system, which is designed to alert residents to flash floods that are common in the area. But in Kerr County, officials admitted over the weekend that no such system exists.

After horrific flooding took the lives of more than 100 people in Texas, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick says the state will install sirens along parts of the Guadalupe River by next summer. Former Kerr County Commissioner Tom Moser joins Chris Jansing to explain the difference sirens could have made in warning people of the oncoming floods and the possible “nuisance” some people say they can cause.
