A man has been charged with the murder of mum-of-two Paula Canty, whose body was found in an apartment in Mallow on Friday. Joseph Butler, with an address at the Belfry in Mallow, was brought before Midleton District Court earlier this morning.

A 40-year-old man who was arrested on Tuesday has been charged with the murder of a woman in Mallow, County Cork. 31-year-old Paula Canty's body was discovered after gardaí (Irish police) received a call alerting them to an incident on Friday. It was reported by RTÉ that she had been stabbed in the chest.

The Ute man, who allegedly fled from law enforcement last month before being apprehended, was charged with second-degree murder of a child on Wednesday. Jeremiah Hight, 23, of Towaoc was also charged with one count of discharging a firearm during a crime of violence.
