A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officer is in the hospital after he was shot during a traffic stop Sunday night, the department said.

Two officers and a suspect were transported to a hospital with injuries after an exchange of gunfire in south Charlotte.

A suspect in an assault also was shot and injured when officers exchanged gunfire with someone they tried to pull over, police said.
