BCSO Deputy Jesus Vargas was shot in the head and killed while he and other members of the U.S. Marshal's Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force were serving a warrant on Robert Lee Davis, 56, a violent career criminal.

HOUSTON ( KIAH) — The law enforcement community is mourning the loss of Brazoria County Deputy Jesus Vargas. This is the first time a deputy from that department has been killed in the line of duty in 14 years. Vargas was part of a team that went to arrest Robert Lee Davis on an aggravated assault charge Wednesday.

A DPS helicopter rushed federal K-9 officer Rocky to the Westbury Animal Hospital after he led authorities to a murder suspect who was hiding in a dumpster. Investigators say the dog's action saved many lives.
