The release clause in 31-year-old Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane's contract will decrease from £67m to £54m over the next year. (BILD - subscription required)

Harry Kane has a release clause in his existing Bayern Munich contract, a source has confirmed to ESPN. German newspaper Bild has reported that the 31-year-old had an agreement which could have seen him leave the club this winter for around €80 million (€83.3m) and will be active again in January 2026 when the fee drops to €60m.

Bayern Munich can no longer avoid allowing release clauses in contracts of important players such as Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala, sporting director Christoph Freund appeared to confirm on Thursday. The Sport Bild weekly said this week that England captain Kane has such a clause in his deal until 2027 he signed in his €100 million move from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023.
