Sources: Pelicans bring in Elfrid Payton on training camp deal
The New Orleans Pelicans are bringing in veteran guard Elfrid Payton on a training camp deal, sources told ESPN on Thursday afternoon. Payton, 30, is from the New Orleans area and played college basketball at the University of Louisiana, just a two-hour drive west.
Pelicans' Izaiah Brockington: Signs training camp deal with Pels
Brockington played in one game with the Pelicans last season after spending the year with the Birmingham Squadron of the G League, and he also played for Pels this year in the summer league. He's a long shot to make the roster, though, and it wouldn't be shocking if he plays in the G League in 2024-25.
Gretna native Elfrid Payton signed to Pelicans training camp deal
This would be a second stint for Payton, 30, with his hometown NBA franchise. He played one season in New Orleans in 2018 as the team’s starting point guard.
