Even if the Switch 2 doesn’t do as well as the first Switch, Nintendo has a plan to beat scalpers as well as Sony and Microsoft.

Compared to its predecessor, the Switch 2 faces an entirely different landscape when it comes out later this year. The Steam Deck, which arrived in 2022 when the 5-year-old Switch was already showing its age, kicked off a wave of handheld gaming PCs.

Right now, the main things we know about the Switch 2 hardware that distinguish it from the original Switch are that it's bigger and has more horsepower inside. The widespread expectation is that it will be roughly as powerful as a PlayStation 4 Pro or maybe even a Steam Deck, possibly with the ability to upscale games to 4K using DLSS technology.
