In Minnesota and across the U.S., poll workers are being praised for stepping up during another big election. Administrators hope the goodwill inspires others to take on these roles in the next election cycle.

Workplaces and offices will feel emptier than usual on Election Day—and maybe for a few days after. Workers are taking sick days Tuesday while companies from Room & Board to Bank of America are closing stores or letting staff take time off to vote.

Election workers and volunteers have been working throughout the night to count ballots. The first set of rankings for the inaugural 12-team playoff will be released on Tuesday. Both players ended up getting technicals in Nuggets-Timberwolves.
