QB Geno Smith connected with Tyler Lockett to set up the game-winning field goal in OT, lifting Seattle to a 23-20 win over New England and a 2-0 start under new coach Mike Macdonald.

Smith struggled with playing through injury in 2023. His numbers slightly regressed as a result, but he still owned a 20:9 TD:INT ratio and went 8-7 as a starter. The Seahawks parted ways with head coach Pete Carroll and offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, replacing them with Mike Macdonald and Ryan Grubb.

Smith, who turns 34 in October, used his legs effectively during his Pro Bowl season in 2022, rushing 68 times for 366 yards. Curiously, he didn't run as much last year -- only 37 times for 155 yards - and acknowledged midway through the season that he could run more.
