Today is Friday the 13th. From the origins, superstitions and ways people celebrate, here's everything you need to know.

The New-York Historical Society says the origin can be partially traced back to Jesus’ Last Supper. The story goes that 13 guests attended the Last Supper—Jesus Christ and his 12 apostles—and the next day, Good Friday, was the day of Jesus’ crucifixion.

It's not clear where the superstition originates. Some believe it stems from the Biblical Last Supper, in which the unlucky 13th guest, Judas, betrays Jesus. Another Biblical belief is that Cain killed his brother, Abel, on Friday the 13th.
