Attorney General Merrick Garland told Congress he plans to make special counsel Jack Smith’s report on the cases against Donald Trump available to committee leaders and, ultimately, the public, once courts allow,

The injunction lasts until three days after the 11th Circuit rules on a pending request to block the release of the report over a separate matter involving Trump's co-defendants.

The Justice Department told a federal appeals court on Wednesday that Attorney General Merrick Garland intends to release the January 6-related volume of its final report of special counsel Jack Smith before Donald Trump takes office.

Co-defendants in Donald Trump's since-dismissed classified documents case are calling on a federal judge to bar Special Counsel Jack Smith from releasing his so-called Final Report on his investigation.

But Garland intends to withhold the classified docs report while the case against Trump's co-defendants is ongoing.

The ruling may represent a short-lived victory for Trump but it’s nonetheless the latest instance of the Trump-appointed jurist taking action in the Republican’s favor.

Judge Aileen M. Cannon, a Trump appointee who had dismissed the documents case in its entirety, temporarily barred the Justice Department from releasing Jack Smith’s account of his investigation.
