Ben & Jerry’s has sued its parent company, Unilever, claiming they have been censored from “publicly voicing support for peace and refugee rights,” in particular their support for Palestinian refugees.

The claims are the latest in ongoing tensions between Ben & Jerry's and Unilever following the ice cream maker's decision to end sales in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

The ice cream brand, known for its activism, sued parent company Unilever, alleging it was blocked from calling for a cease-fire in Gaza.

The independent board of Ben and Jerry’s has accused its parent company, Unilever Plc, of silencing it on advocating for Palestinian rights, in contravention of an agreement between the two.

The ice cream maker has accused Unilever of attempting to block Ben & Jerry’s from making public statements about the plight of refugees from the conflict in Gaza. Ben & Jerry’s alleges that Unilever has breached the terms of a confidential settlement made in 2022.
