Detroit has watched two of its best seasons in team history close in heartbreaking defeats in consecutive years. They have earned their sky-high expectations, but they'll have to wait another year to try to reach them.

Commanders safety Mike Sanristil picked off a Goff pass in the end zone to stop one last Lions drive in the first half, allowing everyone to finally catch their breath with Washington leading, 31-21. For the game, Washington had four interceptions (three of Goff and one of Williams on a trick-play attempt).

Lions earn the No. 28 selection in the 2025 NFL Draft with the loss in the NFC Divisional Round to the Commanders

The Lions will pick 28th in the first round of the NFL Draft as part of the six picks they currently possess for the event, which will be held April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. General manager Brad Holmes does not currently have selections in the third or fifth rounds, as those were dealt in order to acquire other talent.

The Lions' season ended in crushing fashion, and despite the team winning 15 games, the talk this offseason will be about how the team can get better.
