Microsoft’s $75 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard cleared its final U.S. regulatory hurdle as the FTC dropped its challenge, capping a nearly two-year legal battle.

The Republican-controlled Federal Trade Commission is abandoning a Biden-era effort to block Microsoft’s purchase of “Call of Duty” video game maker Activision Blizzard.

Microsoft rocked the gaming world in January 2022 when it confirmed plans to buy Activision Blizzard for a record-breaking $68.7 billion. The FTC sued to stop it, and that case continued even after the acquisition was completed in 2023.
