Demarious Antwon Cherry, 22, of Birmingham, was killed in what police believe was a shootout in the Kingston community. In addition to officers hearing numerous rounds of gunfire at around 9:40 p.m., ShotSpotter alerted them to shots fired in the 4600 block of Roscoe Avenue.

He was identified by the coroner as Demarious Antwon Cherry, 22, of Birmingham. There was a crowd when police arrived, which quickly scattered. Police ask anyone with information to call CrimeStoppers where tips are anonymous.
