The UK is facing more ice, snow and flooding today as an Arctic blast continues bringing chaos to road users and warnings are in place from the Met Office and the Environment Agency

Homes were flooded and vehicles stranded Monday as a soggy and cold spell continued to disrupt life across parts of the U.K. and more wintry weather was expected.

Most of the worst flooding is expected to hit the Midlands and north of England. Manchester Airport’s runways were closed early on Monday morning because of heavy snow but later reopened. Hundreds of schools were closed on Monday, in areas including Lancashire, Yorkshire and north-east Scotland.

Weather warnings for snow and ice are in force across much of the UK after severe flooding and snow caused travel disruption and school closures. Most of south-west England and Wales, coastal parts of North Wales and Merseyside and parts of north-west England and the West Midlands have a yellow snow and ice warning in place until 10am today (January 7).
