Billy Joel is shedding light on a deeply personal chapter of his decades-long friendship with Elton John in the newly released HBO documentary Billy Joel: And So It Goes.
Billy Joel is opening up about a tough moment with longtime friend and tourmate Elton John. In the second part of the new two-part HBO Documentary, "Billy Joel: And So It Goes," the "New York State of Mind" singer shared how John's public comments that he needed rehab strained their friendship.
Joel previously started rehab in 2005 following what he called an "ultimatum" from his then-wife, Katie Lee. Joel revealed in the documentary that he didn't like being compared to Elton John, even if they were close friends and frequent tourmates.
Part 1 of the HBO Billy Joel documentary, Billy Joel: And So It Goes Part 1, will air on HBO on Friday, July 18 at 8 p.m. Eastern Time and Pacific Time. That means that no matter what coast you’re on, the Billy Joel doc airs on HBO at 8 p.m. The runtime is for Part 1 is 147 minutes.
