This is an amazing drive! The whole area is gorgeous with tons of lake views, waterfalls, and cute towns. Our favorite stops on the drive were Black Beach, Palisade Head, Cross River Falls, Grand Por… Full review by vorktravel

If we had known how beautiful this area was, we would have planned to spend a few days here. Gooseberry State Park is well worth the stop. Full review by Kim M

The only place I have stayed was the Larsmont Cottages, but there are plenty of nice places further up the shore. The Larsmont Cottages were very nice and I would stay there again but I think next time I would stay up past Two Harbors. My son lives inland from the shore and says the mosquitos and biting flies are much worse this year than usual. People are leaving their vacations early. I don't know if it would be the same on the shore or not. Maybe you could contact a park ranger to ask.

I’ve lived in MN my entire life. Mosquitos are bad every year, all summer long. So I wouldn’t plan your vacation around when they may be better or worse. It all comes down to preparation. Lots of bug repellant on yourself and the area around you (if you plan on sitting outside for awhile). It cools off quite a bit in the evenings along the North Shore so pants and long sleeves will help the bug situation as well.

Hi! We planning trip for the end of September. There's enough information on all the places to b visit, but haven't found anything about the weather. We will be driving from Missouri do it's still pretty warm in September, early October. What about North Shore drive, Duluth area weather wise for end of September/early October. Will we need hats? Rains a lot?! Thank you
A:
Use Weather (dot) com_site and pack for anything. Weather changes very quickly, forecasts don't always accurately predict what you'll actually experience.
Q:
Where is the North Shore scenic drive? We cannot find it!!
A:
As you go out of town traveling North of Duluth. As stated above, it hwy. 61, be aware parts of the hwy is closed and they will detour you to the freeway.
