Breaking down Europe’s ambitious targets for rail
WEBJul 26, 2024 · Most recently the European Commission’s (EC) 2011 White Paper on Transport called for 50% of all medium-distance passenger journeys of 300km or more to use rail by 2050. However, progress towards these targets has lagged. According to the EC, passenger trains accounted for 7.8% of all inland passenger transport in the EU-27 in 2018.
